Farm FAQ:

How many acres do you have?
Our farm is a 130 acre working farm.  Pumpkin patch activities primarily take place on 15 acres.  We rotate our pumpkin fields between two farms and plant 25 acres in pumpkins, gourds, squash, and both field corn and ornamental corn.  The rest of our land is rotated in corn, soybeans, pasture and hay for our cattle, horses and other livestock.

Do you sell other produce?
Our son Jack sells his farm fresh eggs.  We also sell beautiful 8” garden mums in a variety of colors during our fall season.  Pooley’s Pumpkin Patch is a self sustaining farm.  The cattle, pigs, and chickens are processed seasonally to supply the Pooley’s with meat.  The grains and grasses are harvested and used to feed the livestock on the farm.  We promote Nebraska grown and made products in our gift shop.

How long have you owned your farm?
This farm has been in the family for more than 80 years.  Beginning with Jeff Pooleys’ grandfather.  There were originally three farms that made up Pooley Farm’s.  As of today there are two remaining.  One of which is Pooley’s Pumpkin Patch.

What else do you do when you’re not open for the pumpkin patch?
Every year, Pooley’s Pumpkin Patch converts back to our family farm for the off season.  Jeff  is employed full time off the farm and he plans, plants and harvests our pumpkins.  Jeff co-operates Pooley Farms with his brother.  Pooley Farms sells their beef through private sales every fall.  Elizabeth maintains 3 permanent part time positions through out the year in order to stay home with their two children before and after school and in the summer. Pooley’s Pumpkin Patch demands most of their attention.  Planning, Planting and improvements go on continually.
